Rajat Patidar’s Comeback to Strengthen Madhya Pradesh Squad

Indian cricketer Rajat Patidar is poised for a return to the cricket field after being sidelined due to a knee injury. Cleared by the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, Patidar will rejoin the Madhya Pradesh team in Kolkata and participate from the third round of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on November 30.
Patidar’s absence from competitive cricket lasted four weeks. After playing for India A in an unofficial Test against South Africa A on October 30, he experienced knee discomfort during Madhya Pradesh’s Ranji Trophy match against Punjab on October 15, subsequently missing two Ranji Trophy fixtures.
Rehabilitation and Recovery
Undergoing a 10-day rehabilitation regimen, Patidar received a clearance certificate from the Centre of Excellence medical team, allowing him to resume batting. His return to the crease is highly anticipated as Madhya Pradesh looks forward to bolstering their lineup in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Patidar’s Recent Form

Before the injury setback, Patidar displayed remarkable form. He commenced the Ranji season with a double century against Punjab, and as the captain of the Central Zone, he led his team to victory in the Duleep Trophy by hitting two centuries and two half-centuries.
The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 marks Patidar’s initial engagement in white-ball cricket since guiding Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their first IPL title earlier this year. His ascension to all-format captaincy for Madhya Pradesh, succeeding Shubham Sharma, was a testament to his leadership qualities.
Impactful Leadership and Past Achievements
Last season, Patidar was instrumental in Madhya Pradesh’s campaign as runners-up in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was the second-highest run-scorer with 428 runs in nine innings, boasting a striking rate of 186.08, including 27 sixes—the most for that season.
Patidar’s return injects a renewed vigour into the Madhya Pradesh team. His leadership and form are expected to play a crucial role as MP strives to capture the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this season.
